Blog Action Day: Efeito estufa e o meio ambiente

Imaginem um lugar árido e desértico, cuja temperatura durante o dia chega a atingir aproximadamente 500°C. Imaginem também uma superfície coberta por rios de lavas e violentas tempestades. Ou seja, um verdadeiro inferno! Ao observarmos de longe, parece uma estrela, por causa de seu brilho, mas na verdade é um planeta envolvido por nuvens de gases, originadas por uma atmosfera composta principalmente de anidrido carbônico, traços de nitrogênio, vapor d'água, oxigênio, enxofre e até mesmo ácido sulfúrico. Sabem de quem estou falando? Sim, do planeta gêmeo da Terra, chamado de Vênus!

Sua temperatura é mais elevada que a de Mercúrio, mesmo estando afastado do Sol. O porquê disso? É o vilão chamado de efeito estufa. Sim, vilão esse que pode estar ameaçando o nosso próprio planeta. A explicação para esse efeito é ao fato da atmosfera de Vênus parecer opaco para as radiações infravermelhas, ocasionada pela grande concentração de CO2(gás carbônico). O aquecimento de sua superfície acontece por causa da penetração da radiação visível, e assim há a emissão do infravermelho. Ao absorver essa radiação, o CO2 provoca o efeito estufa. Imagine por exemplo, um carro fechado, recebendo as radiações solares, que penetram no interior do veículo. Como o calor não consegue escapar, sentimos um mormaço devido ao acúmulo do mesmo ao entrarmos nesse carro.



Esse cenário infernal pode estar mais perto do que se imagina. A quantidade de CO2 emitida por nossos veículos, aliado a poluição de nossas indústrias, somando-se ao desmatamento exacerbado feito pelo homem, pode fazer com que a Terra acabe com o mesmo destino. O aquecimento global (processo natural do planeta acelerado pela ganância do ser humano) já é uma realidade. As mudanças climáticas estão ocorrendo ao redor do mundo e causando vários sofrimentos para as pessoas.



Aos governos, cabe a criação de uma legislação específica ao meio ambiente e uma dura fiscalização, no sentido do cumprimento das leis, bem como o incentivo a ciência e a tecnologia, na busca por fontes de energias mais limpas e mais baratas. Mas e quanto a nós? Cidadões comuns? O que podemos fazer?

A minha parte como formador de opinião eu estou fazendo, seja em meu trabalho, no meu cotidiano e aqui mesmo.

Saber onde colocar o lixo, da maneira mais correta, participar mais ativamente de sua comunidade, seja na escola de seus filhos, na Igreja ou em clubes.

Saber usar racionalmente a água e a energia elétrica, sabendo que não são infinitas (e também porque dói no bolso, não é mesmo?), uma crise no abastecimento está sendo prevista para um futuro bem próximo.

Saber escolher melhor seus representantes e começar a votar mais em idéias do que em pessoas, propriamente ditas. Sempre acompanhar a atuação de seus eleitos e exigir as reformas que devem ser feitas.

Combater a corrupção mesmo nos menores níveis da sociedade. Parar de pensar em si mesmo e começar a pensar mais em grupo. Você não é melhor que ninguém e faz parte da sociedade.

Pequenas ações feitas no final se tornam uma grande realidade.

Imagine a dry and desert place, which temperature is about 500ºC during the day. Imagine a surface covered by rivers of lava and violent storms too. It’s really a true hell! When we watch it, it seems like a star because of its brightness, but actually it’s a planet involved by clouds of gases, originated from an atmosphere composed mainly of anhydride carbonic, nitrogen traces, water vapor, oxygen, sulfuric acid and even though. Do you know what I am talking about? Yes, Earth’s twin planet named Venus!

Venus’s temperature is bigger than Mercury even though being far from the Sun. What’s the reason of this? The reason is the villain called the greenhouse effect, and that villain may be threatening our own planet. This effect is explained because atmosphere of Venus seems cloudy for the infra red radiations due great CO2 concentration (carbonic gas). The heating of Venus’s surface happens because of the penetration of the visible radiation, which causes the emission of the infra-red radiation. When CO2 absorbs this radiation, effect greenhouse comes up. Imagine, for example, a closed car receiving solar radiations that penetrates in the vehicle, the heat doesn’t escape and we feel sultriness due to the accumulation of heat when we’re entering in the car.

This infernal scene can be real and close to us. The amount of CO2 emitted from our vehicles, along with pollution of our industries, and the enormous deforestation made by man, can cause Earth to get to the same end. Global warming (planet’s natural process speeded up by the greed of human beings) is already a reality. The climatic changes are taking place around the world and they’re causing much suffering to the people.

Governments must create a specific legislation to the environment and fiscalize the fulfillment of the laws harshly, as well as encourage science and the technology, in the search for cleaner and cheaper power plants. And what about us? Regular citizens? What we can do?

I am doing my part wherever I am (my work, my daily basis and here, of course). What about you?
You must know where the garbage has to be placed in the most correct way; you must participate more actively of your community, either in the school of your kids, the Church or clubs.
You must know how to use water and the electric energy rationally, even knowing that they are not infinite (and because your wallet will thank you!). Experts say that supplying may suffer a crisis on a next future.
You must know how to choose your representatives better and start to vote in ideas instead of people. You must follow the performance of people you’ve elected and you must always demand political reforms which must be made.
You must fight against corruption in the lesser or bigger levels of the society and stop thinking about yourself, you must start thinking more in your community. You aren’t better that anyone and you are part of the society.
A big reality may happen whenever you start to make small actions!
